All those who are just tired with their regular visits to gym just wish their trainer were a magician. The other possibility, of course, is a plastic surgeon as more women are asking for arm lift-brachioplasty to get rid of their fat arms that sometimes look more like batwings.

People who lose a lot of their weight through exercise, diet or surgery often find that they have extra skin. About 42 percent of total surgeries done in 2012 were following an excessive weight loss. Other factors that lead to a drooping or sagging appearance in arms are aging process, heredity and a growing trend to adopt particular traits from celebrities.

Why arm lift

Arm lift-brachioplasty is a surgical procedure that aim to reform the under portion of the upper arm, from the underarm to the elbow. Brachioplasty intends to

  • Eliminate extra skin and fat between the underarm and the elbow
  • Reshape arm to achieve a smoother contour
  • Give a proportionate appearance

The surgical procedure

In case of localized fat deposits liposuction is performed. Arm lift is performed through a small scar when the patient has small amount of excess skin near the armpit. In case of a lot of upper arm excess skin, a long incision would be needed.

Usually, general anesthesia is used in surgery. While some surgeons use local anesthesia with sedation. Your arm will be wrapped for a couple of days and you will be asked to keep it above the level of heart and normal functioning of arm will be back in a couple of weeks. The surgery leaves a scar on the inside of your upper arm.

Great arms need good muscle mass, little fat and no saggy skin. A surgery will help with only last two things.
