Venus Williams; former grand slam winner and former world number 1, right now seeded in the top 15 best players of the world, just got knocked out of the BNP Paribas Open in the quarter finals to the 14th seed Elena Vesnina. In a well fought out battle which resulted in Elena fighting back to recover 3 match points and win the match 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 and make a name for herself cementing her place in the semi finals.

The Russian sensation Elena Vesnina defeated Venus for the fourth time to reach her first ever professional singles semi final at the Indian Wells, while talking to the media she said that it seems she is on cloud 9, and is enjoying herself thoroughly, quite happy with the way she is playing and to win against a former World Number 1 is a good sign of it. Nothing to take from Venus Williams she fought throughout the match and overcame 3 points on her serve on errors made by the Russian.

Venus came back to the tournament this year after a 15 year boycott from Indian Wells where she and her sister Serena Williams got racial abuse, and in 2001 withdrew from the semi final played against her sister Serena due to injury.

I believe that Venus wasn’t a 100 percent coming into this tournament after a tough Australian open come back which she went through going till the final to be defeated by her sister Serena who already withdrew from the tournament due to knee issues.  Venus was out of sorts, playing quite low tempo and struggling with her service toss, plus the errors hurt her too.  Venus said that it’s frustrating when a player wants to do well but the body doesn’t allow it to happen, signaling that she wasn’t a 100 percent at all. I believe she can come back strong, might need a new mindset which a new coach may be able to give, for more information regarding tennis coaching services contact 1CS.

Elena now faces Mladenovic, seeded 28 in the semi finals, who just defeated my pick Caroline Wozniacki, 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-2 to go into the top 20 WTA rankings for the first time in her career.  It was a great match, some calling it an average match but in my opinion it had it all. Both competitors had not dropped a set before this match and the hype was just, Wozniacki rallied from a 4-2 situation to force a tie breaker in the second set, but she couldn’t take the lead in the tiebreaker.  Wozniacki suffered some discomfort between the match and got her right foot heavily taped, and then lost the final five games, which meant that Mladenovic is the lowest seed ever to reach an Indian Wells Semi final and become France’s top seed.

The other women’s semi final is between world number 3 Karolina Pliskova and Kuznetsova, world number 8, playing on hard courts in the desert, creating a tennis court is quite hard, Talbot tennis is one of the best tennis court contractors out there, why not get your own court created today.
